Garrett Sheehan is the President & CEO of the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce. In this role, he also leads the Regional Leadership Council and the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce. He is also currently the President of the Connecticut Economic Development Association (CEDAS).
Through his work with the Chamber, Garrett is focused on the economic growth of the Greater New Haven region as well as the state of Connecticut. The combined Chambers have a membership of more than 1200 businesses. The Chambers serve as the facilitator for the business community in New Haven and the larger region.
Garrett’s career has focused on economic development. Living in the South, he held positions as a researcher for the Huntsville/ Madison County Chamber of Commerce in Huntsville, AL and as a project manager for the North Alabama Industrial Development Association. In 2007, Garrett returned to Connecticut to take an economic development position with a utility company, United Illuminating (UI) in New Haven and then later another utility company, Eversource.
Garrett is a Certified Economic Developer. He earned his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University, a Master’s in Business Administration from Auburn University, and a law degree from UConn. He is a licensed attorney in Connecticut and Texas, and he served as a law clerk for the Connecticut Appellate Court. He served as an infantry officer in the Connecticut Army National Guard and deployed to Afghanistan in 2010. Garrett and his wife have young two children.
